"Lack of support in ward for mother with two fractured arms"

About: Frimley Park Hospital / Accident and emergency Frimley Park Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a relative),

My mother had a fall, & fractured both arms, a&e staff were AMAZING & everything was checked out very fast. My mother was admitted first to F1 for about 10 days & then moved to F6. im very sad to say I thought the care was very poor! ! She didn't have a shower once in 3 weeks of being in hospital, when she was offered a wash it was a young male nurse. I did phone the ward (F6), & spoke to the sister in charge one evening, & explained my mother is 84 & finds this rather embarrassing, the sister was rather rude & informed me 'well he is professional', I replied im sure he is, but my mother finds its uncomfortable & degrading not even being asked if she minds! !

The cleaners woke her at 6am banging mops around her bed, she recieved NO ASSISTANCE walking to the toilet, nurses even told her they could't hold her hand while walking in case she hurt them. so she recieved no help, could't clean herself resulting in her becoming sore, & I had to visit every evening to help wash her, brush her hair & clean her teeth. & food at meal times, a tray was plonked in front of her, with no help to cut food ect. I had to come up in evenings to help feed her ( also helped others onward), money also went missing from a cup on her table. ! ! Ive worked in care myself for many yrs, & found the level of care shocking! ! I took her home & paid for carers to come to my home while I worked in the end. even after care, notes were lost, no physio arranged. I had to chase everything! !
