"Flexible Sigmoidoscopy"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Endoscopy and day care

(as the patient),

I underwent a flexible Sigmoidoscopy at the Forth Valley Royal and was told up front that I would not be getting sedation. The experience was horrendous. I was not provided with sufficient support during the procedure and detail as to what was happening where. I felt violated after the procedure and got into my car and cried all the way home. I strongly feel that sedation should be offered and that as and when the camera is inserted, air pumped through, etc you should be told what is happening and why.
