"Coffee shop at Stobhill Hospital"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

I was early for my physio appointment, so decided to have lunch at the coffee shop in the hospital. I like to drink hot water with my lunch (minor attempt to be more healthy).

So imagine my surprise when the staff informed me it would cost me £1. 20 for a cup of hot water at an NHS hospital! Really? ? I advised I would be having a coffee to finish off and would use the same cup, but no, I would have to pay £1. 70 for my coffee and a further £1. 20 for the hot water!

Shouldn't an NHS hospital be encouraging patients to drink more water, or do you not want us to get healthy? A pretty disillusioned patient!

On Patient Opinion, I support Lorna Gray, Patient Experience Public Involvement Project Manager, and Niall McGrogan, Head of Patient Experience Public Involvement.

Dear Curlywurly0141,

Thank you for your comment.

A national decision was taken not to sell hot water from Aroma retail outlets across Scotland for commercial reasons.

Hot water is not a 'menu item' on the Aroma tills. In error, you were informed to pay for the cheapest hot drink available which is tea.

Cold Water is available on request.

I trust the remainder of your lunch from Aroma was enjoyable.

Joe Gilbey - Retail Manager
