I went for my pre op assessment for my teeth, after the lovely dental secretary got back to me after speaking to the orthopaedic secretary, as I couldn't be on 2 operating lists, so dental secretary rang me and pushed my pre op assessment forward, as there needs to be 6 weeks between surgeries, so friday afternoon I went for my pre-op assessment, nose and groin swabs done, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, weight and height done, sat waiting for nurse, they asked me a lot of questions, they queried me on asthma, which they said was copd, I have 2 inhalers, one I have one puff of each day, and the other is for when I am out of breath and hasn't been used for along time, they then measured my neck. I don't know what for, then they said they needed to speak to the anaesthetist, come back and told me that I have to be referred to East Grinstead hospital as inpatient as I am having 5 teeth out, and cant have it done on Sunderland day unit.
I was very upset about it, then they looked through some of my notes, they asked me why I didn't tell them that I am diabetic and on insulin, I told them I am not, I've never been diagnosed with diabetes, they kept on, I asked them why its in my notes, they said its a doctors summary from november, I told them its not mine. anyway before going I asked will they let the dental secretary know, they just ignored me, they sent me for ecg and blood test
