I have a diagnosis of schizophrenia. I have been in contact with my local CMHT since approx. october 2001 - receiving treatment. I have been able to see a psychiatric pharmacist on and off for a number of years on the NHS. I have had numerous changes to my ant-psychotic medication and now take clozapine for my illness. I feel and consider myself to be very lucky - not everybody can access a psychiatric pharmacist. Adjustments to my medication have taken place alot quicker than if I was seeing just a psychiatrist. The pharmacists I have seen seeing are more knowledgeable than the Dr's. - They have been excellent, I think more mental health service users should have access to a pharmacist to speed up the recovery process. As well as saving the NHS Money! !
I would like to remain anonymous.
Thank you.
