I have been waiting since march for a thyroid removal operation , initially being told this would be in mid April . Eventually I got a date for today 11th August . I rang the hospital as requested to see if a bed was available and was told , yes come in . I arrived at the hospital and was taken to the ward . A nurse admitted me and got me gowned up and ready for my op . The anaesthetist then came and told me what would be happening . A little later the surgeon came and told me my operation would have to be cancelled , as there was no theatre staff for the afternoon . Why go to the trouble of getting me all prepared and then cancel . Surely the must have known there would be no staff . I have been in pain with this for months now and thought it was finally going to be over .. to say I am disappointed is an understatement .. I am meeting with the surgeon next week to sort something out , but my trust in the NHS and this hospital is nil at the moment
