I was admitted to Woodend for a total hip replacement. On arrival, I was told to report to a different ward to the one I was originally supposed to go to.I was allocated a bed and left until staff were able to book me in, then all at once everyone wanted my details.
I had my op the same day of being admitted and all seemed to be going well. After my op was taken back to my bed and monitored by staff. All going well so far. Since I had a spinal it should have worn off after several hours, but unfortunately for me it had not. I had problems moving and could not use bed pan.
Next day tried to get up and almost collapsed so was put back in bed. Only to hear nursing staff discuss that I was not trying to help myself and move. I felt very embarrassed and unworthy of myself. This happened again the next day, much to my dismay. I again heard the staff discuss me at the door of the Ward.
I did not want to complain as I was worried they could make life difficult for me. My confidence took a nose dive regarding this and I will never let myself be admitted to this Ward again.
