"night Staff PD wards Rampton hospital"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as the patient),

Can you ask Staff at Night to keep the chit chat down. Middle of the night talking outside our rooms up and down the ward. This keeps waking me and others up and we are fed up with it. I don't want to hear about staff issues about pay and working conditions, I just want to get my rest and sleep. This can and does wind Patients up. I am locked in my room all night, it is important we get our rest. No wonder we are sometimes grumpy. What are you going to do about it. I feel fed up about this.

Thank you for sharing your experiences of noise at night. The issue of noise at night was also recently brought up at the bi-monthly Directorate Recovery and Involvement Group (DRIG) meeting. #

Since then I have visited night staff working on PD wards and observed that staff who were on duty were quietly working and responding to patient needs However I did inform them of your concerns.

I also told the ward managers. They will communicate the importance of a good night sleep without interruptions to all day and night staff. The ward managers will also find out if the situation has improved through community meetings. We echo your sentiments that a good sleep is a key part of recovery and can benefit mind, body and soul. Our aim is to address your concerns about noise at night swiftly.
