"My appendectomy"

About: Leicestershire and Lincolnshire Lincoln County Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I started off with awful stomach pains at night time and a fever throughout the night, I couldn't sleep. By the next day morning I was in agony and kept getting shooting pains. I rang 111 and they advised me to been by my local doctor. I got there for 10: 45 and I was booked in with the nurse. She examined me and then got the doctor, they both thought I had appendicitis. I got referred to the surgery assessment unit at Lincoln county.

Family looked after my children and my husband took me up. I arrived at 1: 15 and was given a bed space, and the nurse checked me out not longer after. I fell asleep and then my husband left at 3: 30 to see to the children. The doctor came by at 4, and asked for me to have an ultrasound, that couldn't be done until the next morning. The Dr fitted a cannula in me and started me on iv aniotbiotics and the nurses struggled to get my bloods even trying my feet. The Dr got it from my hand. I was feverish. I slept all night. I ate half a sandwich at tea time but it wasn't nice : (

The next morning I wasn't allowed breakfast, and felt poorly during the ultra sound. The person doing the ultrasound said I had polycystic ovaries and appendix looked fine. I was too ill to really understand what was going on then wheeled back to my bed. And doctor came round at 2pm, I missed lunch as I still wasn't allowed food. The Dr said he wanted to send me home and it was just cysts on my ovaries. I assured him I felt horrific, I was unwell and my stomach throbbed. He believed me, he was fantastic. He scheduled me in for a laparocopy in the afternoon. I had a few naps and was uncomfortable: (

They came to me at 8: 30pm and wheeled me for my op. All staff reassured me and supported me, I was scared on my own. I had my appendix out and they mentioned I had a cyst on my ovary as well. I then wheeled into recovery, woke up by my bed, and given pain killers the next morning.

The day after that, I woke up still unwell but they advised me to go home as I was at risk of infection. One of the nurses seemed to busy to help me in the day time.
The noise levels at visiting times and the food weren't very good.
I'm currently recovering at home, I'm in a bit of pain but taking it easy.
