"Hygiene"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill)

(as a relative),

I visited Kings College Hospital at Denmark Hill today. I thought the men's toilet facilities on the ground floor at the entrance to the Jubilee Building were pretty grim. A strong smell of urine penetrates your nostrils as you enter. Surely these busy, well used toilets need more frequent cleaning. And to add to the problem, the "air blade" hand drier was not working. There was no option of using paper towels instead. And finally, the hand gel dispensers on the wall in the entrance to the Jubilee building were empty. Getting the basics right is surely the first step in infection control! Very disappointed to see such poor hygiene standards at such an important well used site. I reported these issues to the receptionist who immediately rang some one to attend to them, but surely more frequent cleaning and checking is needed?

Thank you for letting us know about the state of the toilets in the GJW.

I am pleased that staff passed on your findings but I will also pass this onto the company who do our cleaning so that they can ensure that cleaning is up to standard.
