"Excellent A&E care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency

On 3 occasions in a 4 day period I have taken my friend to A&E for exactly the same problem.

During the small hours in A&E we were seen immediately and thoroughly examined and treated. The standard of care was top quality and very efficient. The TLC given was truly appreciated and I cannot thank the staff enough from the moment of admission to discharge for their care. It is the Nurses & Doctors on the front line who truly need to be recognised for the support and help they provided, if it had not been for the extra mile the A&E team went I'm really not sure what would have happened. Each of the Nurses would make sure the patient was in a safe place. Each one listened, supported I can honestly say I saw the NHS at its very best. The compassion and understanding was key in getting the help the patient needed.

If one had to make a criticism, when the injury is self-harm a few could have been a little more compassionate and the treatment given is dependant on their compassion level. When dealing with a patient with mental health problems it appears to be pot luck as to the compassion given and therefore the type of treatment but I still have to say the staff were still very good.
