My bilateral surgery to remove DCIS from one side and reduce my other breast for symmetry was planned following a positive mammogram from the RDE Breast Screening Service.

My particular cancer was symptomless so without the screening, subsequent further imaging and needle biopsy it would have been undiscovered and growing. From the start of screening to discharge from hospital and follow ups post operatively everything was very efficiently and professionally managed. The care and support to involve me in the process was outstanding. Having read about best practice in medical articles on therapeutic mammoplasty every key point of excellent clinical practice was achieved by "my" team. As a result I am in a far healthier position than prior to the mammogram physically. Although it has been, at times, an emotional experience, again the team were well aware and managed this aspect superbly too. "Thank you RDE". You are all fantastic. Not least because of your positive and caring "bedside" manner.
