"Rheumatology"

About: St Albans City Hospital / Rheumatology

I attended the Rheumatolgy clinic on the 15th June 2017. I was seen by a Locum Consultant. I'm wondering why I did not see of the Consultants who actually work at the St Albans clinic!?! Unfortunately it seemed that the doctor was tired during my consultation, as they kept yawning! While I was talking, it was clear that the doctor wasn't listening to me or taking on board what I was telling them! In the Consultation the doctor explained that they would arrange an MRI scan for me and went into detail about the procedure. I have previously had a bone density scan and they said the MRI was more intense than that and it would get to look at my bones better. I also told the doctor in the Consultation that I'd previously had a foot scan and it showed a small crack in my foot and that I was told it was the start of Osteoporosis. I also told the doctor I was feeling very unwell. I went into detail about my feet, hands, knees, legs, back and neck problems. I left the Consultation being told that I would get an appointment through for my MRI scan, which could take about three months and also I needed to have more bloods taken. I said to my partner when I came out that I didn't think the doctor was any good! The doctor did also send me for a foot x-ray and then rang me in the afternoon to say it looked ok and that they were just arranging my MRI scan. However, after receiving a copy of the letter to my GP, I'm flabbergasted! Apparently I'm having a foot ultrasound now! I don't think so! The doctor clearly stated that I would be having a full MRI body scan! Two weeks have been wasted! I'm now going to have to chase this up! I suppose costs are to blame!?! I really am not happy with the service I received! I'm going to request that I see someone else! I even told the doctor that I'd already had an ultrasound on my feet! Why do Consultants not listen! I'm not well and I don't need added stress!
