"Prescot ward was the ward I was ..."

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

What I liked

Prescot ward was the ward I was placed and I was treated very quickly and looked after with respect.

The food was very nice and varied.

Ward was cleaned daily.

Plenty of Tea or Coffe, all day.

Anything else?

I was given an arm band with all my details on plus a bar code, why not use these to ther ability with the drugs roud.

The nurses have check the nubers on the arm band to the drug list and patience records.

This could be done with all drugs used have bar codes and with a bar code reader the nurse only has to do is zap the records then the patience arm to gain access to the drug list for that patient.

Then zap the appropriate drugs to access the dosage, if the wrong bar code is used then alarm will sound, this will then alert the nurse that there is a problem. this double security for the patient and the nurse in charge of the drugs round.

Many thanks for your positive comments, which have been passed on to the staff of Prescott Ward. We aim to provide a high quality service and a good experience for all patients. The arm bands you describe are new and have been introduced precisely to protect and promote patient safety.
