What could be improved

treatment by consultants in A&E, was very poor.

I came into A&E with a broken collar bone. It was a fairly busy day so I had to wait most of the afternoon. I was eventually seen and my shoulder x-rayed. The x-ray showed a clear break, with quite a gap between the 2 bits of bone. I was advised that nothing could be done and that it would self heal in 4-6 weeks, which I was surprised about given the gap and the fact that one section of bone was clearly sticking up at an abnormal angle. I was then sent away with just a fairly flimsy sling and no other guidance on what to do regarding physio or other self help treatment.

Being unhappy with this I saw our GP to get a referal for private treatment. After waiting a week for a private consultation appointment to be arranged, I have now been seen by consultants who know what they are doing, and has been booked in for an operation to pin the bones back together.

In short my treatment at Frimley was very poor and I am appalled, becuase if I had just followed their advice (or lack of), my shoulder would probably have been permanently bent!

Following this incident I have lost faith in Frimley and should any of my family have need of emergency medical treatment in the future, I will still use A&E, but never at Frimley.
