"Not taken seriously"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as the patient),

Cannot get an appointment to save my life. I feel my GP is unhelpful, telling me that my agonising period pain - that last 3 weeks -, painful sex, excessive bleeding and about 100 other things "are nothing", yet I cannot self-refer to gynaecology? It seems ridiculous that I have to be referred when my doctors are so unwilling to help me.

I had a IUD put in about a month ago (which had been cancelled twice), and it's made things worse. I'm not being taken seriously as a diagnostic laparoscopy came back showing no signs of endo, which apparently means I am "over exaggerating the pain"

I am now having to look into being seen privately, which is going to cost me a fortune, simply because I am young.

Dear Defeated

I am so sorry to read your story and fully get the frustration that you are feeling when your symptoms and issues are dismissed and you don't know who can help. I suggest that you contact the practice manager to discuss the issues you have raised regarding your GP. I really hope that you do find a resolution to your problems in the near future.

Best regards

Jenny
