"All the staff make my grandson feel relaxed and at ease"

Regarding my 7 year old grandson who has Type 1 diabetes. The Clinic 5 team at Lincoln County Hospital are fantastic. All the staff make my grandson feel relaxed and at ease about his 3 monthly diabetes clinic visit. They all talk directly to him, unlike some professionals in other services who talk to the 'grown up' and virtually ignore him! Helen, his diabetes specialist nurse always goes out of her way to support him and he loves seeing her, she is always cheerful and makes him laugh. The person he looks forward to seeing the most is Dougie Thomas, his consultant. He makes a point of telling him 'bad jokes' and is really supportive.

I have total faith in the care given to my grandson and know that any problems or issues that may arise will be dealt with in the best way possible. This team have made a life changing diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes less overwhelming and, for my grandson, they have made him feel safe and secure with his treatment, and more importantly helped him accept having diabetes as something that he can live alongside happily. I would recommend Lincoln County Hospital to any parent of a child with Type 1 who are looking to change teams.
