What I liked

Nothing. With the exception of a very tiny minority, the staff and the management at this hospital should hang their heads in shame at the standard of care they have provided and continue to provide to my grandmother.

What could be improved

Everything!

*cleanliness of the wards- they are filthy! My grandmother requires assistance in eating but was often left to feed herself. She dropped some food which was just left there. I tried to clean the area around her last time I was there with some wipes and they were black!

*care and treatment- essential tests were not done.

*dignity to patients.

*communication with my grandmother and the family.

*attitude of nursing staff- we have not ever had the privilege of talking to a doctor so cannot comment on the medical staff.

*seeing beyond my grandmother's date of birth and the onset of dementia to realise this is a frail, frightened old lady who deserves some kindness and care.

Anything else?

The staff give the impression that patients and visitors are an inconvenience. if you don't like dealing with people, don't really care about people, then you should not be in this job. I hope that the staff realise that they will be old one day too and try and put themselves in that position. I count the moments until we can get my grandmother out of this place and hope that the substandard care she has received does not prevent this.
