What I liked

I was admitted to Lister 2 ward in March 2010 for a complicated hip revision. I cannot fault anything for the whole of my stay (almost 3 weeks). The staff were excellent on all levels, from consultant to domestics, everyone was friendly and went out of their way to help at all times, they were all very easy to get along with - more like friends than strangers. I was confined to bed for over 2 weeks and the nursing staff made sure I was comforable and had everything I needed at all times, I was never once kept waiting when I 'buzzed' for assistance, I can't recall a time when there wasn't a staff member on the ward. The bed was very comfortable, I was surprised that the bed was an electric adjustable type which made life very easy for me and because I was confined to bed I had an air filled matress which I found really comfortable. I had no discomfort following surgery and my medication was very good.

The theatre waiting area was also a surprise, equiped with TV it was very relaxing, more like a reception, and again, the theatre staff were excellent.

When I was allowed out of bed, it was also good to find clean toilets at all times.

There was a very good choice of food at each meal, and I was frequently told to ask at any time of the day or night if I wanted food or drinks.

Nothing was too much trouble for anyone,even as far as the consultant and ward doctor with their busy schedules, helping out with personal paperwork I had to deal with during my stay.

If I had known about this site before I would have commented sooner, I would like to say thankyou to all those people who helped make my recovery as comfortable and relaxed as it was.
