What I liked
The nursing staff were pleasant
What could be improved
The attitude of Doctors here totally stinks
Anything else?
I was booked in for an operation in March. This was a procedure that I was pressured into having.
I arrived at the hospital at 7.30am on Monday 28th as I was told (despite the fact I was on the afternoon list and shoul have been told to arrive at 11am).
The consultant then came to see me and told me that, because of my blood results, there was no point in doing the operation. They wrote to me about my blood results in April, so why not cancel the operation then instead of waiting until I was on the ward. Bearing in mind I had been nil by mouth from Midnight. After they cancelled my operation I was not even offered a cup of tea even though I had been NBM for nearly 8 Hours for no reason!
I needlessly spent £20 on a taxi to get there for the stated time and I am unable to claim this back.
Also when I went for my pre-op they found a problem with my heart. I had an echo done and the consultant never even bothered to give me the results and no follow-up has been arranged for me to get these results, so I do not know what sort of a heart problem I have - which is very worrying.
This operation had been worrying me for 3 months, and the way it was cancelled was very inconsiderate and heartless by the Consultant. They have caused me a lot of stress, which with my other health problems I do not need.
I am now going to Tameside, where I would hope for better treatment and would never go to St Marys again.
