As a visitor recently with a family member, I was shocked at the meet and greet system in the A&E waiting room. The nurse is essentially triaging the patients right in front of everyone in the waiting room which is very inappropriate and does not mantain dignity and confidentiality. This system needs addressing promptly. It is confusing for some people too. The patient should be allowed to book in and then be triaged in a closed environment. If you're feeling unwell, you don't want to let everyone else know about it. The walls and information/hospital plans need updating too. Bring things to the 21st century. I also think that patients should not be expected to carry a bowl of urine through the waiting room from the toilets into the department after asking to give a sample. At least give them a small sealable pot. The meet and greet nurse however was very smiley and approachable, perfect to be welcoming visitors and patient to the department.
