"Patronising Doctors"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital / Maternity

patronising registars! I don't choose to go in to Maternity Assessment Unit - I hate hospitals!

My Babies heart monitoring done by My Community Midwife is the reason I keep getting SENT there due to unexplainable dehydration issues! I have only gone to MAU because im ordered to go! Even then I don't want too. I get told to go back again by the Midwife at MAU to be monitored again every day until birth I'm 40+1 weeks gone and then 2 doctors turn up and talk to me like Im a time waster or neurotic with no idea of what has actually been going on the last 2 weeks with me or the baby! I dont even know why they were there.. Making out that I keep going in because im just worried about my babies movements for no reason at all! Errr there are other medical reasons! Judgemental much! Try talking to your patients or reading their notes properly! One very upset Mum to be!! I set them straight as politely as I could as so upset and nearly in tears and they disappeared. I'm supposed to go back again Today... What's the point? Doctor thinks it's a waste of time. It's such a shame as most of the Midwifes in MAU have been very supportive and lovely!

Hello - I am sorry to hear that your experience of the PRUH MAU unit wasn't as you would have expected.

It would be really helpful if you could get in contact with me so that I can put you in touch with a senior manager to talk more about your experience. We really do want to make things better where we may fall short, but need to learn first hand from mums in order to do this. In the first instance, could I ask you to email me: Jessica Bush, Head of Patient Experience, jessica.bush@nhs.net and I will advise from there. If you would rather talk to someone independent, I could also put you in touch with one of the members of the PRUH Maternity Voices Committee - all mums or mums to be - with an interest in making care the best it can be. Kind regards.
