What I liked

I was a patient over three days and spent time in A&E, EAU and Ward 3 for this brief admission. In each of these units, I was treated with respect, staff were polite at all times, extremely attentive and keen to provide whatever additional help they could. This extends to the dietetic dept too. Drs were keen to involve me in decisions about my treatment. Once again, the communication, respect and manner in which I was spoken to, made this unfortunate admission more bearable and less distressing.

What could be improved

I had a similar issue earlier this year in that the catering dept are not well equipped in providing a vegan diet. Efforts were made by ward staff and the dietetics dept to cater for my needs (so much so that staff actually went out to purchase food for me !), but the catering dept failed on many occasions.

Anything else?

Nothing else to add, other than Thank you to everyone involved in my care.

Thank you for your positive feedback which has been shared with staff on this ward and in their teams in A & E, Emergency Admissions Unit and Ward 3. We are really pleased to note that you felt involved in your treatment.

The catering department have comprehensive guidance for staff on meal options and alternatives available. These have been recently re issued to ensure staff are aware of choices available for patients. The catering department makes every effort to ensuring patients’ needs are catered for recognise the importance of a nutritious diet in hospital.

The catering department has recently added two new vegetarian dishes to the patients’ menu of Quorn curry and Quorn chilli and jacket potatoes.
