I was wrongly diagnosed with suspected testicular cancer whilst working in Indonesia. I was told that it was highly likely that I would need to undergo radical testicular orchiectomy (the removal of my testicle). As you can imagine, I was somewhat traumatised by the prospect of having cancer and losing a testicle (or worse) and I was lucky enough to be able to speak to a British GP over the telephone who advised that I should come back the U.K. for a second opinion rather than going straight to surgery in Jakarta.
On arrival in the U.K I received a prompt appointment with the Urology department.
It subsequently transpired that I did not have a malignant tumour and that orchiectomy was no longer required. I am very grateful to the Urologist that I saw and also to the Dr and member of staff in the ultrasound department. Thanks to the skill and professionalism of these three members of staff I'm still intact!
"Excellent hospital - saved me from testicular..."
