"Could my scan have been different?"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

Was early for my appointment it was not bossy, I was takin early.  All metal objects removed into scanner was told it would take 15 to 20 mins and would be quite loud.

Ear plugs fitted, should was so loud I had no communication with staff it seemed much longer than 20 mins.  I panicked for a few moments but settled and let very noisy scan go on. I then worried if there was something wrong with the machine pre st my alarm taken out. I was told "you have only been in scan for 15 mins", I asked will you have looked at enough,   but said they hardest realised it was only for a eye scan, could this been done quicker, could l have been sedated?

Dear TMarsh,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I am sorry that your experience with the scan was so worrying. I am keen to ensure that the questions you have asked are answered. To do so, I will need a little more information from you about when you attended and what we were being seen for. As these posts are public, it may be better for you to contact us directly to share that information.

If you are happy to do so, you can contact us on 01387 244 016. That number will bring you straight through to the Patient Services Team. Alternatively you can email us at Dumf-uhb.PatientServices@nhs.net. Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Emma Murphy
