I spent 4 months on Rowan 2 and although this was the worst time in my life, it was because of my illness and not my experience on the ward.
The ward is very tidy and clean - the domestic staff are amazing and so kind.
Although I was very unhappy about being admitted on a section, I can now see it was necessary and that being on the ward has saved my life. But not only that, the staff on the ward were so patient, encouraging and caring and because of this I left holding onto the hope and belief that I could make something of my life. I arrived on Rowan 2 completely hopeless and lost in a deep dark depression and I left holding a seed of hope that I could continue to grow myself in the community.
The OT department also had a massive part to play aswell as all the ward staff, they helped me gain my confidence back after it had been shattered from the depression. 9 months on and I'm back in employment after being off for years due to my MH.
Thank you to everyone who had involvement in my care on the ward - you saved my life and now it's richer than ever.
