"I have been taught to take one step at a time"

About: One Recovery Bucks

(as the patient),

I started alcohol in 2007. It started as fun, going to clubs and drinking weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I wouldn't go into work after using. I lost my job 3 times. I would then drink 7 days a week, 2. 5 bottles of vodka of 75% alcohol content.

I had detox 2011 and I was clean 1 year before starting again in 2013. Every day I was now drinking more. I would not listen to my wife and family. I just stayed home and drank. I excluded myself. In 2017 I went to my GP and after checking me the doctor said if I continue like this I will die in 3-4 months due to liver failure. The doctor recommended I come to OASIS, where I have been helped. I'm clean now for 2 weeks. I'm so happy and I'm thinking I have a new life. I'm so lucky I'm at OASIS. Drinking kills many people. I now have good relationship with my wife and children. I'm not going to cross the line. Thanks to staff who have been helping me.

Everyone is given a chance at OASIS, where I have been taught to take 1 step at a time, one day at a time.

Thanks for your valuable feedback. It is great to hear that you are two weeks abstinent from alcohol and are finding the service and staff so helpful. Keeping working on your recovery goals and like you mention taking each step at a time. Those steps become days, then weeks, then months, then years.

It's great to hear you are already seeing the benefits of better relationships with your wife and children now you have stopped drinking. Have you heard about our new men's group run by Hess in High Wycombe, you might want to check it out as it focuses on the male prospective including relationships.

Best wishes with your recovery

Tracy
