"I am hopeful for the future"

About: South West London And St George's Mental Health NHS Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

I was referred to the Complex Depression and Anxiety Service after another form of therapy did not help me become better. I have been under their care for 7 months now and am just about to be discharged from the service. My peer trainer Debbie has helped me most with 1 to 1 meetings and my biggest turning point was when I agreed to do ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). I never wanted to do any groups but I am glad I did as it was a changing point in my life for me. Now I am seeing an employment specialist and volunteering with Imagine and MSCV befriender service. Being under their care I got worse before I got better but am so happy to be alive and am hopeful for the future.

Dear era28,

My name is Claire Reid and I am the Engagement and Experience Co-ordinator with the Trust. I want to thank you for taking the time to post about your experience with services.

I am glad that you have found the Complex Depression and Anxiety Service helpful to you and that you were helped most in your 1:1 sessions. I am pleased to hear that you did group therapy and this helped you further your recovery. It is great to read that you are seeing and employment specialist and are joining volunteer groups. The best thing to read is that you have hope for the future.

I wish you all the best in your continued recovery

Best Wishes

Claire
