At a time when I feel there is a desire to keep patients with long term health issues out of hospital can lead to significant benefits for both the patient and the NHS, cardiac rehab units have an important role to play.
Having had a cardiac event , I spent 8 weeks attending the Cardiac Rehab Unit at Wishaw General Hospital. Whilst a bit apprehensive at the start, this gym based class quickly gave me a good idea of the exercise I could undertake (more than I thought! ) in an environment of fellow recoverers. More to the point it gave me confidence and an exercise habit which I will continue at the follow up programme being arranged at NL Leisure.
The course is run by the Cardiac Rehab team led by Anne-Marie. Their ever present enthusiasm and good humour make the course an excellent event to attend. Indeed if it had been on twice a week I would have attended twice.
Many thanks to you all. Keep up the good work.
