"I was referred to save a tooth ..."

What could be improved

I was referred to save a tooth that had a post-crown that had become infected. The hospital dentist did not seem to focus on saving my tooth instead choosing to focus on the potential loss of my tooth. Even then he suggested that I might be happy to leave a gap in my mouth afterwards - would he have treated his own family in this way? This has really upset me. I do not believe that he will try to save the tooth at all.

Anything else?

There is a possibility that i could be referred to another dentist. All the time my condition could be getting worse thus making the loss of my tooth more probable. This is not what I expected from the NHS that I help to fund. logo

I am sorry that you are not happy with the treatment you have received at Birmingham Dental Hospital. The hospital provides high quality care but is always happy to discuss any situation in which a patient does not think that this is the case. It is important to us that patients feel able to speak to us about any worries that they have, and would encourage patients to speak with the clinician or a manager whilst at the hospital, or to contact PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) to discuss concerns and to allow us to address them. PALS can be contacted on 0800 389 8391 (Free phone).

I would be grateful if you would contact Alison Last, Head of Patient Experience on 0121 442 3311 or by email to provide further details to enable the matter to be fully investigated.
