"The doctor who treated me in the ..."

About: Lymington New Forest Hospital

What I liked

The doctor who treated me in the minor injuries dept was without doubt the most reassuring efficient and caring doctor that I have met in a very long time. I have a terrible phobia about Bournemouth and had come to Lymington with a suspected DVT after kind and caring staff helped me via a phone call to the dept on Saturday last, 31/1/09. I was in a bit of a state! The doctor I saw didn't know that I had a phobia but I needn't have worried. He put me at my ease, kept me well informed and was a kind considerate and thouroughly nice human being. I had to come back on Sunday for more treatment and he was consistant.

I feel this should go onto his CV as when encountered, such a gift with people should be rewarded. I don't know his name but he was probably in his thirties. I have to return to the DVT clinic and await a call today, and because he has set me at my ease, It is nor as scary as it normally would be for me. I am a very confident person in my late 50's but because of extreamly bad experiences over the last few years centered around my husbands treatment at Bth and my own and that of a friend I have or rather had lost all confidence in hospitals. He has made a bad experience much much more bearable. Thank you Doctor.

What could be improved

The contact I had with the out of hours receptionist was awful. She accused me of abusing her because I dared to argu a point about patients choice. I was crying and as a doctors sec/receptionist myself for over twenty five years until illness forced me to retire, I would have had more insight and compassion for someone who was upset and scared! Sorry to add that downer!

Anything else?

Lymington hospital staff are lovely. The hospital clean and welcoming, please don't change.

Thank you for your kind comments. These have been passed on to the staff in the Minor Injuries Unit.
