"The staff were all providing excellent care"

About: Royal Cornhill Hospital / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

I'd like to thank Alan the night manager who came to give me a drink while I was waiting for a bed to be available. It might be a small gesture but it was appreciated.

Secondly the nurse that did my paperwork in the ward was very caring. I was extremely stressed and she made this as easy as possible for me.

In general this ward is managed extremely well. The ward is immaculately clean. The ward is highly organised. The nursing staff were all very professional and caring. I think every member of staff introduced themselves. A member of staff that stood out to me was Emma (she was looking after my care) she was very caring, attentive to detail and extremely patient not just with myself but in all other interactions I witnessed. In a tough and busy environment the staff were all providing excellent care.

I'd like to thank all the staff they made my short stay as easy as possible for me. The staff of Brodie ward are an asset to the NHS.

Dear Jaytee77,

I hope this finds you well.

Your story was lovely to read and I’m sure that it will mean a lot to Alan and Emma to be mentioned in your kind comments – in fact all staff in Brodie ward will be touched that you took the time to write and let them know that you appreciated their care and compassion. I will make sure that your story reaches them.

I agree that those small human kindnesses really do make a big difference to care -especially when we are in stressful and unfamiliar situations. I hope that everyone who reads your story will realise how important it is to treat all patients as people – and that even in a tough and busy environment what matters is that we make time for the little things like introducing ourselves, listening and making a human connection.

Take care,

Kirsten
