I had a key hole surgery done at Southmead for my ACL reconstruction. The appointment was at 7am. I was seen very quickly. All the procedures were explained well and all questions answered.
The consultant saw me before the surgery, gave me assurance that everything will be OK. They were personable, answered all the questions and made sure I was ready for the operation. The anesthetist explained me about the procedure and again assured me about my well being.
After the operation, the consultant came by to let us know that everything went well and as planned. The ward nurse was very helpful, offered me food/drink and helped me throughout my stay at the hospital.
The overall experience was really good and I highly recommend Southmead hospital. What makes it different is the repeated assurances to the patient that they will make everything possible to make sure my issue is fixed. These small gestures go a long way to comfort community that there are doctors/nurses who genuinely care about the patients.
Again, I would like to thank the consultant and team for fixing my knee. They are an asset to the local community and Southmead hospital should be proud to have such wonderful staff.
