"Doctors in A&E"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I have recently had to visit A&E at the Pilgrim Hospital at Boston after calling 111 service they told me I needed to be at A&E within the hour (but several A&E staff I spoke to said they tell everybody that! ). I was seen quite quickly had blood pressure etc checked then taken to a cubicle to see a Doctor. Didn't have to wait long but the Doctor made me feel like I was wasting his time he sent me for a X-ray then back to cubicle and was kept waiting longer this time. The Doctor came back he seemed a bit better after seeing my X-rays told me it was a long term problem but I hadn't suffered the swelling before. He sent me home without offering any pain relief or crutches and said I needed to see my GP.

I got an appointment with GP but could only see nurse she told me to go back to A&E to get the problem seen to immediately so I returned to A&E and was seen by a different Doctor this time. He took me to a cubicle explained things about my knee showed me the X-rays explained them to me then prescribed some painkillers and sorted out some crutches for me. Great service from 2nd Doctor for that I am very thankful and I feel that had I have seen the 2nd Doctor the 1st time I would have been sorted with having to go to GP or visit A&E the 2nd time thus saving the NHS money. Overall I received good care.
