Was referred from GP to MEAU as was considered medical emergency. They forgot to call the ambulance, I sat for 3. 5 hours at GP surgery to then be told the surgery was closing and could I make my own way to the hospital.
After admission on MEAU at Lincoln County I was assessed through the night and eventually prescribed BP tablets to reduce BP - it was at this point 7. 5 hours after admission I was offered a drink to take my tablet.
I only had my blood pressure taken once on arrival and once after medication.
I was astonished by how noisy the ward was throughout the night, bearing in mind it's a busy ward with admissions through the night which I expected. After being woke up several times by the volume of staff voices I gave up on sleeping. Night time voices definitely required and full on laughter at the nurses station I felt not appropriate for 3am (I'm not a grouch)
On a plus side, the next morning saw a change of staff and brought with it a nurse (I never caught her name). She was absolutely a credit to the profession, like a bee all over the place, could hear her reminding others what needed doing and picking up on issues like a lady needed a special bed. She wasn't even my nurse but every times she walked past she checked to see if I was ok and if I needed anything.
And then she announces she's leaving.. what a loss she will be to this ward ☺
