"Not getting my blood pressure tablets"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / General medicine Pilgrim Hospital / Neurology

(as the patient),

In Jan I had a brain haemorrhage (brilliant treatment at QMC Nottingham).

I went in to Pilgrim last week with a brain swelling. They got rid of the inflammation very quickly, but on Friday the ward didn't give me blood pressure drugs (too busy). I was very worried at 2am when I saw my BP was 187/?

I asked several times because I have a note from Notts saying do not let the BP go over 130/80. Next morning they told me that they had run out and ordered them from pharmacy. They arrived at 1pm on Sat. I was petrified as I still have 2 aneurysms in my head so don't think they need stress.

I left the hospital because I was afraid of the treatment and had only just had a lumbar puncture and now I'm suffering really bad.

Dear 831,

It was extremely difficult for me to read of your treatment following your recent visit to Pilgrim hospital. Clearly it is not the level of care I expect our teams to provide, and I very much want to investigate exactly why we seemed to have let you down so badly.

For me to identify exactly what went wrong, I will need you to provide me with some more details. If you could arrange to contact the PALS team at the hospital on (01205) 446243, or via e-mail to pals@ulh.nhs.uk, and let them have your name and date of birth. I can then use that information to identify the areas concerned and make sure they are aware of your comments.

All feedback is very important to us, but more especially if it allows us to identify what we need to improve to ensure all our patients receive the level of care we should be giving them.

Thank you once again for your comments, and please accept my sincere apologies.

Regards

Jennie
