My Grandma was admitted for the 2nd time in the space of couple of months just after Christmas. This Stroke was much more severe and she has been an inpatient on the Stroke Unit for nearly 6 weeks.
I cannot express in words here the sheer hard work, compassion, caring nature that each and every single staff member on the Unit showed to her. From the Ward Clerks and Housekeepers who would stop and chat to the Healthcare Assistants who went above and beyond not only for Grandma for the other patients in the bay.
The nurses were so friendly and approachable that you felt you could ask them anything without fear of interrupting their busy days. Although it was clear to see the staff were extremely busy they all had smiles on their faces which made the world of difference. I saw Staff Nurses helping patients with their dinners and providing basic fundamental care.
There is no doubt the care my Grandma received from the whole team, therapy staff and Doctors was fantastic and will be a hard act to follow now she is in a rehab facility. They really do deserve recognition not just for doing their job but for going above and beyond and I hope Senior Managers in the organisation are made aware of this as its so important the front line staff are praised and thanked.
"Fantastic care for my grandma in the stroke unit"
