"Working with patients with dementia"

About: Bromley Healthcare / Bladder and bowel management (continence)

(as a relative),

Me and my husband are in our 80s, and we went to the clinic for his incontinence. The lady who we saw was exceptionally good. However, I think she needed more training on working with patients with dementia. There was a lack of sensitivity.

She suggested we use notices in the bathroom, however, my husband has dementia, and this would not work for us.

She did try to help us. There was no incontinence pad sample for us to take home, but the nurse said that they would sent a brochure home. We were given a form to fill in as his carer, and most of it does not apply to him because of his dementia.

I feel like a need more support with the care of my husband because I’m 85 and not coping very well.
