"Dignity and Professionalism"

About: West Cornwall Hospital (Penzance) / Older people's healthcare

I have no words to explain how we felt when my poor dad spent his last days on Med 1 in WCH.

Dad was transferred in from Treliske hospital after having a traumatic week there. As soon as we arrived at West Cornwall a sense of calm and care greeted us. I have never know such amazing care and compassion for a patient and his family from all the staff, I do not wish to mention anyone because I would hate to leave anyone out because they all work so much as a team making sure that dad was ok and just as importantly my mum who spent days with him becoming very fond of the staff there who treated her like she was as important as dad.

It was a very emotional time but we were dealt with with honesty and that is something we are very grateful for. The Doctors were compassionate and visible which was reassuring.

The ward itself is clean, tidy and had a very homely feel to it.

How the staff manage to carry out their role is a credit to the ward management.

There was humour, tears and plenty of laughter to be heard. When we lost dad on Christmas eve we felt honoured to have been lucky enough to have been cared for by the team on the ward.

To know that this standard of care still exists in a time all we hear is negativity is heart warming.

Thank you all. My dad would have loved the care he had if we would have been aware!!!!
