(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I would like to be in a hospital closer to home. My Mum and Gran come and visit once a month which is a 6 hour journey - they travel all day, stay in the relatives accommodation overnight then visit me the next day. If they lived nearer they could visit more often. I get homesick so it is good to see them but am sad when they leave.

I have had anorexia since I was 15 but I have picked up bad behaviour on the way, like self harm and aggression. I still need tube feeding at times.

I don't think I am in the right place at the moment. I need to be in a hospital nearer home. When I get out more off the ward my mental health is better.

Thank you for taking the time to add you story to Patient Opinion. I am pleased to learn that your family manage to visit you monthly and that they are able to make full use of our Relatives Accommodation. I understand that it is always difficult when anyone’s Loved Ones leave and you will feel sad, it is at this time that you should seek the support of our wonderful Nursing staff to help you through.

I am sorry that you do not feel that you are in the right place at the current time and we will do all we can to help you get better and move on so that you can have access to more off ward activities and also move closer to home at some point in the future.
