My appointment at the dermatology unit at Stirling hospital left me feeling very uncomfortable.
I was referred to the dermatology clinic by my GP, I also have a mental health condition that makes me very uneasy if I am touched by someone who has not washed their hands and also need to check out my environment to help me feel at ease.
When I went in to see the doctor there was a large machine in the room, I started to ask questions about it and asked if I could have a look at it to put my mind at rest. Whilst the doctor was accommodating I was surprised when they left the room and returned with a nurse who sat with a notepad and observed the interview. I did not feel that this was needed, an earlier nurse had left us alone, presumably because there was no need to take notes. Rightly or wrongly I felt that the nurse had been brought in because the doctor was uncomfortable with me, even though I had explained my compulsion to them.
The whole episode made me uneasy and very uncomfortable.
