"Distressing Interview with Doctor in Eye Clinic"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital / Ophthalmology

Virtually the whole Consultation was taken up with the eye doctor complaining that I had attended the Clinic at all, even though I had been referred there by 111 and Addenbrooke's A. & E. Department.

I did not feel the doctor had any interest what-so-ever in me, my eye condition or my prognosis for the eye condition.

I had had a bad attack of floaters and flashes of light in my eye over the Christmas period and had gone to my Optician who didn't know what the problem was and thought I should be seen at hospital.

But the doctor I saw was furious my Optician hadn't dealt with me, (the optician simply said they didn't know enough to say whether or not my eye would be alright.)

I repeatedly told the consultant the Optician didn't feel confident treating me and wanted me to go to hospital, but the consulant was abusive, insisting I should have been satisfied with just the Optician.

My right eye isn't any good now and I don't know how to manage with it.
