"bowel cancer screening"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Being 55 I was called in to have a camera inserted to inspect the last 50cm of my intestine. Very nice nurses helping you through the proceedure. Its not embarrassing at all. Its interesting because you dont normally get to see what your insides look like. They managed to go up 40cm before it was too uncomfortable and they stop straight away when you've had enough. There was no cancer or polyps but it did reveal diverticulae which are small pockets in the intestinal wall. That would explain my irritable bowel syndrome. I left with a stomach ache which took about 24 hours to go down and pulling the gut about had yanked on the tube that goes to my left testicle so I now have the feeling you get when you slip off the saddle and land on the cross bar of your bike. I would recommend having the procedure especially if you have I.B.S. because you get to see exactly whats going on down there. It is a bit uncomfortable but its not half as uncomfortable as getting bowel cancer. Do yourself a favour and get yourself checked out.
