"They lost my father's keys"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Adult Mental Health

(as a relative),

My Father was admitted to Wishaw under the Mental Health Act

The arrangements that I made with the doctor was that they would lock up my fathers house and leave the keys safely with the staff in the ward they actually said to me that they had been left with my Dads notes in the ward

Sure enough when I visited the ward the next day to see my father nobody in the ward knew anything about the keys I was left with no alternative but to get the locks changed and submit an invoice to the hospital for payment

I filled in the form given to me by the hospital and returned it but up till now I have been unable to obtain reimbursment and only get passed from pillar to post

I was told to speak a someone but they only could tell me that they had procedures for payment of such claims and I would have to wait, however I cant help think perhaps if they had such robust procedures in place to prevent this happening I would not be wasting my own time trying to get a refund

I have also reported this to the police at the time so that a crime number was logged with them

Dear Disgruntled

Firstly please accept my apologies for the loss of your father's house keys, that should not have happened

I can confirm we do have procedures in place to reimburse patients/carers where personal belongings are lost or damaged. I am sorry that you haven't as yet received any correspondance in regards to your father's lost keys

I would be happy to find out at what stage your claims form is within our system. My contact number is 01698 366760
