"Compassionate and professional A&E care"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) / Accident and emergency

I was treated at St Mary's A&E after a car accident when I was 23 weeks pregnant. I was treated with such kindness, compassion and professionalism throughout for which I am particularly grateful after a shocking and stressful experience. I was assessed quickly by a nurse in A&E who empathised with the stress of the situation and reassured me. They then explained clearly what would happen next (referral to maternity ward to check on baby and then return to A&E for further assessment). The midwife and doctors on the maternity ward saw me quickly and despite not being worried about baby (good movement, no stomach pain etc.) they offered a scan without me asking - I felt this was to reassure me as much as it was medically motivated. They were incredibly kind and compassionate and I felt so safe and looked after. The doctor who then assessed me in A&E was also very kind, professional and reassuring. I am so grateful to all the staff who treated me and my friends. They did an incredible job, with compassion, empathy, kindness and professionalism even though it was in the very early hours of the morning.
