"Great care"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cancer Services (Medical Oncology) Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Clinical haematology Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My dad became quite unwell last Monday evening and my auntie called an ambulance. The lovely crew took him to A&E where he was assessed and x-rayed very quickly to be told it was likely a pleural effusion that was causing his symptoms. The department was busy but they did an amazing job of looking after him. And getting him a bed in ward 112. The staff there were also amazing. Between the doctors and the nurses on duty that night I was made very welcome and comforted when they had to call me in again as dad had gotten worse. Now in ward 114 he is doing a lot better and still receiving great care from all the staff. Thankyou to everyone who has helped get him where he is. Very much appreciated.

Dear Kaz2018

Thank you for sharing your dad's story on Patient Opinion.

I was very sorry to hear about your dad's illness but pleased to hear about the care he received from the ambulance crew and the staff at the hospital. I would like to be able to pass your compliment onto the ambulance staff but would need a few more details to do so. If you were able to provide some more details, you can contact me on 0131 314 0003 or at martinesposito@nhs.net

In the meantime, on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service, please pass on my best wishes to your dad and I do hope that he gets well soon.

Thanks again for sharing.

Take care

Martin.

Hi Kaz2018

I would just like to echo the sentiments from my colleague in the Scottish Ambulance Service by saying I hope your dad gets well soon.

It is great to hear both you and your dad's experience of all the services/departments was so positive, especially at a time that must have been very worrying for you both. Thank you for taking the time tell us your story, it is so good to be able to share stories like yours with staff.

Best wishes
