"I have nothing but praise and support for the staff"

About: Community mental health services / Recovery College

(as the patient),

The SW London Recovery College is a truly supportive and wonderful service provider. At a time when we hear nothing but criticism of mental health services and concern for the lack of access across the country, I have nothing but praise and support for the administrators, the peer support colleagues and the trainers.

I have suffered from anxiety and depression for a number of years and with the help of the college and its courses continue to make progress towards a better life. My use of this service has enabled me to relinquish medication, to grow as a person and feel stronger. However, I also know that at moments of crisis and when I need to refresh my thinking, I can always take a breath, be kind to myself and decide "today it is probably time to stop and ask for a little help. Life is tough and it is not a weakness to ask for help".

Something I know the college will and can provide!

Dear Rosamude-Anne,

My name is Claire Reid and I am the Senior Patient Experience Co-ordinator for the Trust. I want to thank you for your posting about the Recovery College. It is refreshing to read such a positive post about the service you have received from the college. I am pleased to read that the courses have helped you be able to relinquish medication and recognise when you have moments of crisis.

I will ensure that your praise is seen by the staff at the Recovery College, so they can see their impact on your recovery.

Many thanks for taking the time to post a comment and I wish you all the best in your continued recovery.

Best wishes

Claire
