"Expressing sincere gratitude."

About: Leeds General Infirmary / General surgery

(as a relative),

My brother recently underwent an emergency dissected aorta and valve repair at the LGI. It was a critical life saving procedure with many risks involved.

All of our family were obviously distressed and extremely anxious waiting for the operation to finish and find out the result. While myself and my sister in law waited in the visitors room for news we felt extremely well looked after by the sister, charge nurse and matron who all introduced themselves listened to our concerns as we felt useless as we prayed and tried to remain positive throughout the 10 hour wait.

We were so overwhelmed and relieved that the operation had been a success. He is now in recovery and is determined to get himself back to full strength although being aware this will take time.

We would like to extend our extreme gratitude to Dr Kaul and the senior registrar who worked on my brother that day, the anaesthetist all the theatre staff and the other doctors, nurses and physiotherapists who have looked after him during his time in ICU L4/L5. Words can’t express how thankful we all are that our small family has not been torn apart and we get to look forward to a future with him, especially his young girls.

We will never forget what you all did for him that day you are wonderful. I am proud to work for LTHT myself what an amazing trust it is and also how truly brilliant is the NHS! !

Please send our gratitude unfortunately I only have a few names but they were many more, Dr Kaul, SPR working along side him I think he is called Rudolfo. Sister Amanda, Charge nurse Simon, staff nurse Becky.

Dear Proud LTHT worker

Thank you so much for taking for taking the time to write to us with your wonderful kind comments regarding your brother's recent care.

Your post is wonderful to read and I am extremely pleased that you had such a positive experience whilst he was in our care, and that he is now doing well.

I have passed your kind words to our Cardiology Department, who I know will be delighted to know that they are delivering a level of care that met your brothers needs and fulfilled your expectations.

With kind regards

Rosie
