I brought my 4 year old son to a&e last night with a severe allergic reaction. His lips had swollen up extremely, he was struggling to breath and he was covered in a rash. We got told to sit and wait. We waited and waited for 2 hours with my child in pain struggling to breath. So I went to the receptionist to ask how long it will be as my child is 4 and by now it was midnight. The receptionist was very rude and sat with a phone in their hand saying it would be another hour and I'd just have to wait. The way they spoke to me was extremely rude and I cannot believe that they spoke to me in the attitude that they did. So I sat and waited for another hour with drunks and police in the waiting room with my 4 year old. I then went back up to the reception after an hour and a half and there was a new receptionist. I was aknowledged by them shouting 'yes' at me, which I found extremely rude. This receptionist then told me my son had two people in before him. So I sat and waited by now it was 2am and we where exhausted. He was seen and treated at around 2.30am. When we first arrived my son should have been seen urgently as his airways could have been swollen, he was not even checked over. Absolutely disgusting. This is not my first time not being happy with west mid and request someone to contact me regarding this and a very serious incident that has happened because of previous sloppyness from this hospital.
