Dear IanMc,

Thank you for your feedback, I'm truly sorry that you are experiencing delays to your appointments for these very important injections.

Over recent months there has been a noted increase in demands on the Ophthalmology service and as such the organisation has reviewed the needs versus the capacity to provide an appropriate level of therapies for all of our patients.

As a direct result, we have employed an additional Advanced Nurse Practitioner in December 2016 who will be administering these injections along with another staff member in training.

We also have 2 new Consultants commencing shortly with additional resources agreed which will include a further increase across our staffing for the Ophthalmology services.

Unfortunately due to the equipment required, staffing and environmental needs, we can only offer this therapy on the Hairmyres site but will continually review our services pan Lanarkshire.

I hope this information is helpful and that you will see an improvement in our services as they develop.

Kind Regards

Gwen

I have read your response Gwen. I have met one new nurses doing injections and is very good but how is that helping getting secretary's to send out appointments without being chased up and also I don't think there is any reason why you can't get. a room in Wishaw General for injections. I think the majority of patients have to rely on other people to get them to hospital with sometimes a three hour wait then miles to travel home. Wishaw is central and easier to travel and is general hospital the clinics are there so why not take burden of patients and relatives my partner has to take 2 days a month holiday to get me Hairmyres.

Dear IanMc,

I'm sure we could help with the appointments however I respect your wishes to remain private meantime.

Please don't hesitate to contact me in the future if you need assistance. In the meantime I've asked our service manager for Ophthalmology to consider your suggestions for changes which could be made to the service in the future.

Kind Regards

Gwen
